New House
Well after quite a few days of intensive looking for a house share with other people I decided to bite the bullet and just take out a lease for an entire 2 bed/2bath apartment with my friend Jonathan.
Moving into a house that is already established with people might have really simplified the matter and would have been less commitment on my part (ie. no rental lease) but the places which represent good value in terms of quality of accommodation and the price tend to have a lot of competition! There are multiple people who go to look at the apartment and hence the occupants can choose whomever they want. This can be someone that is not you.
The run down places that are situated in the middle of a council estate are happy to call you back and chase you to move in with them but you really don't want to.
So after much looking around on the internet, setting up appointments, viewing apartments and talking to lots of people without success Jon and I decided that we'd just rent a place together. Previously we were both looking separately to share with people already in houses.
We've been in our new apartment now for about a week. It's quite expensive (compared to what I'm used to paying and even for London prices) but it is brand new, fully furnished and in a nice area. We're the first tenants of this apartment and new tenants are moving into the complex all the time.
I will post up some photos once we get internet at the apartment. We got a small TV and then got the TV Licence (UK thing) so now we feel that the TV is too small since we've paid for this licence! Second hand TV is most likely on the way.

Very nice apartment... looks almost like the Honeysuckle place. I guess you have got a new bigger TV from all the documentaries you've been watching :)
